There is no room thirteen in the creepy Crow's Nest Hotel, where Fliss and her friends are staying on a school trip. Or is there? For at the stroke of midnight, something peculiar happens to the door of the linen cupboard next to room l2. And something is happening to Ellie-May Sunderland, too - something very sinister. Fliss: Quite an intense character. Fliss is key in the story. Lisa: Fliss's loyal best friend. David, Gary, Waseem: All best friends. They are comical, entertaining characters. Ellie-May: She is.

Room 13 is a horror children's novel that follows a group of children on a residential trip staying in a guest house on Whitby's West Cliff.

Swindells' page-turner is /5. Room 13 is a spooky little book that fills the reader with tension. It started off a little simplistically but within the first couple of chapters I had really got into it. I would recommend this to teenagers and adults who like a more gentle horror read/5(3).

However, 'Room 13' is a far cry from a blessing in disguise. The tale of a teacher in a classroom haunted by a previous eccentric teacher is a great plot, but the werewolf fitted throughout the book should have been left out/5(4).

The room she's assigned to at her new school -- Room 13 -- has these posters of famous American writers lining the walls. The general gist of this story is that young teacher Marilou witnesses her boyfriend murdered in San Luis Obispo by some hard to identify but possibly werewolf-like creature/5.

Somebody was in there. Somebody - or some thing There is no room thirteen in the creepy Crow's Nest Hotel, where Fliss and her friends are staying on a school trip.5/5(6). Room 13 About book: Mr Hepworth had fixed a large map of the coast to the wall.

He pointed. ‘Here’s Whitby, where we are. And here,’ he slid his finger northward along the coastline, ‘is Staithes, where the coach will drop us this morning. Room 13 () About book: I read this in the John Long hardback edition.

The people who stay in that room feel compelled to record their experiences, and their letters are stored permanently in the Ledger under the Keeper's protection. Delve into these stories and you will ask yourself whether Room 13 is inhabited by ghosts, influenced by magic or simply revealing the true selves of its guests.
